Premier Drums
The Premier Drum Company
enjoyed great success worldwide during the 60s, and even invested in a new factory to meet demand for their
drums in the 70's.
But, 1984 brought big changes to the Premier Drum Company as the company's name
was changed to Premier Percussion to emphasize the fact that they were a new company. And, also to give
a clearer indication that they produce a wide range of percussion instruments and not just drum sets.
In October 1987, Premier Percussion
merged with Yamaha Drums, and in 1997, was sold in another buyout by a British consortium a few years later.
Today, The Premier Drum Company
continues to produce drum sets, marching and symphonic percussion, including timpani and mallet percussion.
